Play Videos More Efficiently on Your Browser (with Flags)

I just made my browser more efficient, by around 32%, by just changing two flags (settings). Which made a significant impact on playing HD Videos.....
Play Videos More Efficiently on Your Browser (with Flags)
  •  I was playing a lot of videos on high quality since a long time on my laptop. After sometime a thing came to my notice. Whenever I play videos on my browser, the Resource Usage spiked, but when i played the same thing on locally resource usage was significantly lower.
  • I came to a solution, which reduced the resource usage, particularly the CPU usage by 32%, while playing videos.
  • Just a quick searching online, i got to know, that tweaking two flags in my browser, will help.
  • Those two flags are: #enable-quic and #edge-mf-clear-domain-override

  • I disabled both the above flags, and restarted my browser. The results were shocking!

  • There were two YouTube Videos playing, a tab with ChatGPT, 2 tabs with Yahoo Search Resuls Pages. AND THE CPU USAGE WAS DROPPED TO JUST 5 - 7%..!!
  • I also got a bonus tip. You can disable the #windows-scrolling-personality flag if you have gittery scroll usage on edge.
  • You can just head to this url, and change the settings: edge://flags/
  • As, I want to maximize the battery of my laptop, I use Efficiency mode, and Ghrapics Acceleration in edge settings.
  • Also, note that I am using a thin and light laptop, which has only Intel's Integrated Ghrapics.
  • I also did some more tests. Previously, my laptop can handle to play only two 4k 60fps videos smoothly, but after disabling those flags, and doing some other changes, I can easily play four 4k videos smoothly on Youtube, without frying my CPU.
  • My CPU must be very relived from the torchure those two flags were giving to my CPU.
  • If you are facing the same, or curious to check in your laptop, search about the flags online and do it. I bet, you will also see a more efficient browser usage.

  • Below are the images, for your reference. They are enlarged for clarity.
